Experiment Day

Mary, Cob and Abi have been taking turns experimenting in the kitchen during quiet time/naps. Monday was Abi's turn. Last week she made a very soupy concoction that had to be baked in custard dishes. It was slightly glue like in consistency. She decided she would follow a recipe to insure better success. Mary took charge of Chloe, I headed up to lay down with the little boys (yes I am thankful Baruch still naps!). I hadn't been up there two minutes when Abi asked what the 1 in front of the 1/4 was for. She had the 1/4 cup measure with her so I explained to put in one cup, then the 1/4 cup. Off she went, and I, back to resting.

30 minutes later I came down to find Abi ready to form the dough into cookies. The dough looked beautiful. I tried a snitch to see how it turned out. Ew! I must have gotten a clump of baking soda in my bite. Another taste. Ew! Gross! "So Abi how much baking soda did
you put in?"

"Let's see," looking at the recipe "1/2,"

"1/2 Cup?"

"Yup."

"How much baking powder?"

"The same amount and the same for the vanilla. Those were easy, they were all the same amount."

Needless to say she threw that batch away. I explained about teaspoons and tablespoons and the next batch turned out GREAT!

10 Months

Chloe prefers to walk over crawling now.  The process took a good three weeks.  She cautiously tested each step, rarely falling.  She babbles away and says ninn ninn ninn (to nurse), Mama and da da da.  Everything else sound like she really means something!  She has six teeth and seems to be working on a molar or two.  Mary LOVES to dress her and takes any opportunity to change her into a cute dress. The picture doesn't show how pretty this little knit dress is, made by Aunt Jo for Mary when she was born!  It has swans knit in at the bottom.  Jacob enjoys entertaining her.  Abigail begs to hold her, but only lasts about three minutes.  Baruch overwhelms her but is so sweet to play peek-a-boo I can't bear to ask him not to.  Abram dotes on her more and pushes her less.  We all love our girl!

Chocolate Pound Cake and Neighbors

Mary Elisabeth made a wonderful chocolate pound cake which I frosted.   Just after Drew lit the candles our neighbor (one of the Mary's I asked prayer for - broken ribs) stopped by.  Perfect timing!  We invited her in for cake.  Feona and Cheyenne had a hay day cleaning up our supper slop.  Mary and Abi take care of Feona and Cheyenne when Mary S. needs to be away for the day.

It's Not THAT Warm!

What WAS I thinking?

Out with the Old, In with the New

We went and looked at a used washing machine Tuesday night.  They were asking $99, a good price for a new Kenmore but it wasn't big enough.  In the morning I thought, "Lord it would sure be nice to find a used Maytag that was a large capacity."  Drew at the office had just prayed for exactly the same thing when he got a call.  Low and behold there was a Maytag for free from a friend!  God is amazing!  It even matches our dryer.  So, last night, in 16 degree weather Drew brought our "new" washing machine home.  Thanks to friends and relatives my laundry is not backed up to unmanageable portions.  I just ran my very first load!

Wedding Weekend

Congratulation Kiran and Leah!

Wow what a whirlwind weekend!

Pictures after the Hindu service taken outside the Scottish Rites Cathedral.

While the little boys napped the big kids had pool time.  Chloe slept in my arms and Tim and Rita came over for a visit.

Here are Drew and Abram just before the Christian service started

Aunt Maxine and Cob

Aunt Jen and Abi

Baruch and Drew

While the wedding party had pictures taken we were served appetizers. The room overlooked the ballroom where we would later be served supper.  The decorations were incredible.  Ten foot tall vases adorned several tables with huge beautiful bouquets in them.  Each table had a gigantic rubbery palm leaf down the middle with rose petals sprinkled on it, a set of three glass vases with long slender leaves floating in water and a candle floating at the top of each.  A box of elephant molded chocolates two milk and two dark were set at each place for a remembrance of the celebration.

Abram's mood turned worse and worse as his hunger grew greater and greater.  Even indulging in some of the chocolates didn't appease him.

Aunt Rita entertained Chloe a great deal.

Uncle Tim gave Jacob. . .

tie tying lessons,

with great results!

Several highlights for me. . .

1) Meeting Marianna and Olivia

Marty sure has a great wife and beautiful daughter!  Way to go Marty!

2) Seeing Aunt Donna and Uncle Bill

3) Seeing Tim and Rita

4) Meeting Linda and Elizabeth

5) Hearing Paul's speech (very touching)

Best kid quote:

Baruch - "I'm so hungry I could eat the table"

Chloe update:

Cut tooth #6 Saturday March 7th

Takes 5 or 6 steps before reverting to crawling!

Sustenance

I am finding need of much sustenance at this time.
I am chewing on
Second Chronicles 16:9
"For the eyes of the LORD move to and fro throughout the whole earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His."
I need that strong support.
When I am weak He is strong.
Oh that my heart would be completely His.
