Lovin' That Book

What a thrill it brings a Mom when one of her children enjoys a good
book. Jacob has not found many books that he reads from cover to
cover. Harry Cat's Pet Puppy by George Selden riveted him!

Eight Months Old Today!

I Love to stand and will pull myself up whenever I get a chance.

Mama is my favorite pulling up place.  I even let go of her pants for a few seconds now and then.

But when I really want something I plop down and crawl for it!

It thrills me to play Patty Cake.

Now back to those papers I was after. . .

Reachin' in . . .

Got it

Have fun on the route guys.  I'll be happy here where it's warm :-)

Isn't she growing up fast!

Prayer Update

I posted a few prayer requests some time back. Here are the updates
on those requests.

1)Please pray for my young friend Mary Beth as she undergoes surgery
tomorrow. She has a very rare form of cancer - Adamantinoma and will
undergo surgery to remove the cancer and replace the bone in her
lower leg.
UPDATE: Mary's surgery went well. Her recovery has been very
painful and she is not out of the woods yet. She has a great deal of
swelling. The swelling got so severe they had to remove her cast
leaving the incision without protection until the stitches are
removed at which time another cast will be put on.

2)Please pray for my neighbor Mary who broke several ribs coughing
and is in severe pain.
UPDATE: Mary is back to work. Still in a lot of pain. She is
reading through the book of John and we plan to get together to
discuss this soon.

3)Please pray for Drew's Mom, yes another Mary! She is still
suffering from pain in her shoulder from bone spurs (since October).
She also has pain in her lower back due to a slip on the ice several
weeks ago.
UPDATE: A melon sized tumor was found on one of Mary's ovaries. It
is a benign tumor. She goes in tomorrow to schedule a surgery date
and is extremely apprehensive about surgery.

Please continue to Pray for spiritual awakening in the wake of these
trial for each of these individuals.

Abram's Phone Call

Abram loves to talk to Pa on the phone. He often asks to call him. He can be heard saying "yes no, she's eating, he's with Dad, he's outside shoveling," as Pa asks about the members of the family. He rarely wants to hang up!

Math Test Time

Mary scarcely began her math test when Abram climbed on her lap. No
wonder she has difficulty concentrating!

2009 is off to a slow start school wise. We are plugging away but I
am struggling to keep myself on task.

Annual Polar Bear Plunge!

Once a year (during the winter) Drew makes a heap of snow in the yard and the kids take turns dashing out of the house and jumping into the pile. As you can see they are scarcely clad. This year the temperature was 28 the day they did it and Baruch participated for the first time. He won the award for the youngest participant ever!

The Beginning of a Doll House

I was inspired by my friend Tonya to make a dollhouse with the girls.  She headed me to a great blog she ran across.  We caught the vision and are looking forward to exercising our imaginations!

We started with two bookshelves we cleared off and brought down from the attic.

We hope to eventually put them together.

The girls decided Abi will decorate one half of the house and . . .

Mary the other half.

Jacob even cleared off the shelf in his room.

Chloe's excited too!

I manned the jigsaw to fashion an opening for the stairs that will come up in the parlor.

The air was thick with creativity as the girls made wallpaper.

Mary made some for the parlor

Abi worked on wallpaper for the kitchen.

I look forward to posting more soon on our dollhouse journey!

Winter Warm Up

We have a heat vent in the kitchen that the kids love to sit in front of. They all huddle around it. I keep telling them to wear more clothes and they wouldn't be so desperate to warm up but

alas and alack. . .

Baby That-A-Way

I am making granola tonight.  Drew took the rest up to bed.

So Chloe and I are hanging out together.

She pulled herself up on the drawers in the kitchen

She's not quite ready to let go of that knob though.

Here she is cruising across the floor to me.

I am going to date myself here.  How many of you remember Baby That-A-Way.  It came with a battery and crawled across the floor.  I got one for Christmas when I was 6 or 7.  Maybe it was for my Birthday.  Anyway Chloe reminded me of that doll crawling across the floor to me.

Braids

Mary E. did my hair in three fishtail braids then braided them all
together. Amazing!

93?

Whoops. I faced the cake for Drew to read not for the camera. He
really turned 39 yesterday!

Happy Birthday Andrew!

Happy New Year and Happy Birthday Drew!  Moving ever closer to 40 Drew celebrates another birthday today.  I am blessed to serve such an awesome husband.  I just put a Carrot Cake in the oven to help with the celebration.
